We had to take a little corn hiatus earlier this week but are now back in full swing! Plan to stop by the farm to pick up some Doris corn for that end of summer party this weekend!
We have a white corn and a yellow corn today...and perhaps when Pete is done raking hay, he might even go on a cornfield search for a little more b-colour too.
Crossing fingers, we should have corn for the next couple of weeks. The signs may be covered up a bit during the week but we hope to have good supply on the weekends.
Have a great Labour Day Weekend!
Peter, Carolyn and the Doris kids, Claire, Maggie, Liam and Ella, operate a small family farm just south of Peterborough near the village of Keene, close to the north shore of Rice Lake. We're trying to carry on the Doris tradition, started by Peter's parents, Gerald and Bernadette, of growing quality, fresh picked sweet corn in the summer for you to enjoy!
Visit us at 2612 County Road 2, Keene Ontario. We're on the north side of County Road 2 between Mathers Corners and Hiawatha Line.

It's a Perfect Time for Corn
Despite the dry weather we've had, it's a perfect week for sweet corn. Today we have three varieties on the table - a bi-colour (our first day for this variety this summer), a white and a yellow.
If yellow is your favourite, we suggest you come soon. It's great tasting and freezing a batch or two will add wonderful colour to your dinner plate this winter!
I'm trying a new dip recipe - thanks to Jennifer Mackenzie from Foodworx for the idea! Here's her recipe for Roasted Corn and Herb Dip. Tomorrow is corn relish day in the kitchen too.

Today we have both a white and a bi-colour corn for sale. Due to the heat and the lack of rain this summer when this corn was pollinating, the cobs are a bit smaller that we would normally have this time of year.
Despite the weird weather this year and the challenges with the growing season, feedback from our loyal customers has been positive.
Today on the table we also have a limited supply of our own fresh garlic for sale. Thanks to Maggie, Liam and Ella (our home grown child labour) for helping to clean it up! Bulbs are 75 cents each.
Have a great soggy weekend!

It's Corn Season Part 2!
After an early start to the season, we were short of corn over the August long weekend. Our apologies to everyone, but with this summer, it seems we can't predict what's happening in the corn field.
We are officially back in business so please drop by on this rainy day and weekend! You'll see two kinds of corn on the table this weekend: a lovely bi-colour (peaches n' cream type) and our family favourite - white.
We are taking family shifts with corn this weekend--today Claire and Maggie are showing their 4-H Simmental heifers at the Peterborough Exhibition. We're excited for Claire! She is Junior Ambassador of the Peterborough Ex this year so you may not see her selling corn this weekend.
Hope to see you at the picnic table!

Sweet Corn Season is Here!
What a summer we've had so far! With the early spring and the heat, sweet corn is on! Today is day 3 of Trinity - our favourite early bi-colour corn. The corn is delicious, (if we say so ourselves) and as usual the early corn cobs are a little smaller but delicious.
We'd suggest you visit soon. If we don't get a nice, steady, slow rain soon, corn season will be short....or else we'll be serving up popcorn!
Interesting corn fact of the day: Peter thinks this is the earliest that the Doris Family has EVER had sweet corn ready for sale. Quite a record considering the Doris' have been selling corn for over 40 years at the farm gate.
Drop by today!

Spring is in the air!
Spring is here!
Sweet corn seed has been ordered and is just waiting to be planted. The Doris kids have also ordered some extra veggie seeds so now we just need the ground to warm up a bit!
Come on out sun...we're ready!
We're also excited to report that after a hiatus of a few years, we're hoping to be back selling garlic this year. So far, so good!
