We are so excited to be open for another sweet corn season! It's been a great year despite the ups and downs of weather...and COVID-19. Based on Peter's recollection/faded memories, this is the 51st sweet corn season for Dorisdale Farm!
The first of our bi-colour (also known as peaches 'n cream) sweet corn made it to the stand in record time. July. We opened on July 19, mainly due to the row cover we use to "heat things up" in the corn field. That means tomorrow will be start of our fourth week with sweet corn this season. Supply is great and it's delicious! In the next few days we'll be highlighting the first pick of our white corn. It's a customer favourite. But not to worry, we will be having both kinds most days.
Vegetables are making their return to the sweet corn stand. We now have a great supply of green zucchini. yellow summer squash, green and yellow beans. More veggies to come!
We've harvested a bumper crop of our hard necked garlic. Be sure to stock up for the season. It is delicious!
Our freezers are full of our Dorisdale raised beef. We have a range of roasts, steaks, briskets and braising ribs available. We also have a great supply of ground beef, stewing beef and 100% beef burgers.
New this year - we're featuring farm-raised Ontario lamb from our neighbours at Farlane Livestock. Give it a try!
It's only August but we have been checking on our pumpkin and squash vines. Fall colours will be making their appearance in a few weeks.
